Haven't written for a while so thought I'd better give you the latest. Still in Darwin after losing the plot and going slightly troppo. Weather here has been bloody hot which is bearable but the humidity has driven me up the wall. After being outside for 5 minutes, it's like walking out of a steam room. Hot and very wet and sweaty. Of course, when the storm clouds start to build up, it's a welcome relief: the winds pick up; the temperature drops and it pisses it down. Nice! Then it stops and the clouds clear and it gets bloody hot and humid again. Ah well, 2 hours later it may happen again.

Needless to say, the weather got to me and drove me to drink which has led to some pretty funny situations. Now, where shall I start!

OK, initially it was the occasional late night drink every Tuesday night in Nirvana where it was open mike. Decided it has to be one of the best bars in Darwin, as all the other bars (on Mitchell St) are totally shite. Anyway, went out around midnight at times and first stop would be the 'Fox and Fiddle' formally known as Pig and Whistle. Yep folks, it even says on the door 'British Pub'.

Have gotten annoyed with the rising costs of a pint of Kilkenny (was $5 now,
$6.30) and that the entertainment is the same guy every night singing the same songs. Boring! Shennanigans used to be a welcome drinking hole especially on a Sunday afternoon although still too townie. Only been there a couple of times first making the mistake of turning up on a Thursday night for 'School Disco' with a fews of the local tarts shaking their bits on the tables. Mind you, met some mad Aboriginal lady and her family in there one karaoke night. First time I had seen any Aborigines in a Darwin pub.

Well, after leaving Mitchell St, rediscovering Squires pool bar has been a total life saver. Only went there twice last year but now it's a regular late night mad people meeter. Met some crazy youths there that same karaoke Monday and went with them to some other bar. These were the same youths I met there 4 days later in the same bar in the same pissed up state of mind. Actually in their 20s and I was thinking 'I'm sure these guys are some try hard Nu-metal wannabies in a band'. Can't quite work out why the goth guy walks around with a polka dot handbag. Cracks me up though. Went to Nirvana on Tuesday and they were there on stage. So, they are in a band! All came flooding back to me - I was the one who told them they should go to Nirvana. That freaked me out that this was partly my doing so I downed my drink and and headed to Squires.

Was there Thursday and some guys started chatting to me. One guy was a bit worked up saying that he's a true white guy and a neo nazi and that I must have asian blood in me as I've got a tan and his skin is too pale to tan as he's
pure causcasian. It was so funny trying to explain to him his mistakes. His mate was Polish which is a right mix. Going on about Jews and how they hide themselves and all this complete bullcrap. I was finding the whole thing incredibly amusing and wasn't going to tell him I was actually 31 as he thought I was 19 (It's the long hair, little beard and glowing skin complexion naturally of course.).

Well got myself a drink from the bar and some guy shakes my hand and mentioned he's a lecturer from Nullunby. Umm, I've heard of that, "Nullunby mate, east Arnhem land". Oh my God, I need to make friends with this guy. Arnhem land - aboringinal land where Kakadu is happily Located. Besides Kakadu, you are only allowed into Arnhem land if you are working there, go as part of a tour or have friends or family there and they invite you in. Failure to do this could result in a huge fine. These are true Aboriginal lands - almost
half on the NT is tradionally owned - cultural lands. This guy is also in a band and plays everything. I wanted to chat to this guy more. I also wanted to sit with the facist and his mate just to annoy him.

Arnhem black traditional guy and ridisculously stupid too tradional white guy
does not make a good mix. OK, I'll stay at the bar chatting to cool Aboriginal guy. Next thing, some other Ozzie shakes hands with guy and JJ (as he was known), says "I'm from Nullunby mate, my mate here's from England mate". What is it with the locals in Darwin? They insist on buying drinks for you all the time like this new guy. After that drink he bought me another. Woah that was a cheap night. Facist guy left on a good note and came and chatted with us forming a brief friendship with JJ. I dunno, just have a way with words sometimes.

Had a really funny night last night. Went there again last night after watching the pretty hillarious Batchelor Party on TV. Didn't make an effort to do my hair and thought it had make a difference as I was sat on my own for a full on 20 minutes initially. Then some girl chats to me and invites me to chat with her friends. And they all work for The Territory News which is THE NT paper. One guys the editor and the others are all sub eds and researchers blah blah blah.

Anyway, stupidly let the old drunken one talk to me but then found my saviours. Yes, the youths had turned up so I quickly made my exit with them. Walking up the street, to find more drink at 3am is quite unlikely. Saw, the dreadlocked guy who works in the Internet place looking out of it on the pavement outside Throb, the gay nightclub which was quite amusing. He's also my neighbour but don't think he works in the brothel there which I've heard about a few times.

Seen a few of the working ladies when I've been sat out the front. Ditched the youths as I didn't think we'd find alcohol in Uncle Sams, the 24 hour eatery and didn't fancy bringing them back to the hostel. Bumped into Internet guy and his mate outside the hostel. He asked if I wanted a room for $50 a week. Bad timing, if he'd asked the day before, I would have moved out as I'd already paid my rent. Anyway, went up to their place, and sat drinking coconut rum out
of some square stone bottle. They told me about the brothel too. So it does exist haha. 3 bed flat was absolutely amazing. Could see right onto the balcony of the hostel from their balcony. Drank more rum went home. What an
absolutely brilliant night.

Well, went to Parap market today. Easy to find Parap, hard to find the town. Went back to NT museum and art gallery for the 10th time. Saw a cool frog and toad exhibit.

Have to leave, place is closing, air guitar heats tonight in Top End hotel then Squires I believe.

Did I mention that Darwin is great and that the people are great. Hopefully, I'll meet more cool people which is great and get more free drinks hehe.
