Happy New Year!
Had a rather bumpy flight to Adelaide and was pretty sad to leave my friends in Sydney. Was worried I made the wrong decision in coming here for New Year but it turned out really well.
Got picked up from the airport and had a BBQ at the hostel. Spoke to Bruno who was sailing to Tasmania which was pretty weird. Met loads of people straight away and went out just before midnight to see the fireworks in the centre, rather than head down to the beach. Went on for a full 10 mins and pretty naff but the atmosphere was brilliant. Onto an Irish bar for a few pints of Guiness. Not too busy thankfully, and loads of older people dancing to the live music. Was great fun and we danced with them.
Headed back into the city centre where there were loads of drunken angry people. The police were a bit annoying as they rode their horses onto the pavement as a group of Aboriginal youths were just simply standing there chatting. I was worried that the horses could freak out and kick someone around the chops.
Managed to make it into a Japanese karaoke bar as there were quite a few Japanese with us. Funny people! Always wanted to try out one of those places. You hire a small room and buy drinks at the bar and select a song from the complicated system and scream your head off. It was really really bad yet also hillarious. Some versions of the songs were tacky as hell. Eventually got back at 5:30am and a few people passed out on the sofas. Had a really good night and away from the madness of Sydney.
Somehow, my camera decided to lose all my photos yesterday. This was everything of Canberra, Christmas Day, New Years Eve. He he ha ha though as I managed to download some file retrieval software and have restored quite a lot of them. Some were totally lost including the one of me on the police bike but never mind.
Found a few lifts heading north but want to spend about a week here before leaving. Plus, decided against travelling with a couple and they have a 4WD too. Damn! Have to do the free Wednesday BBQ here as it's fantastic. Hot here too, 34 degrees when I got off the plane but a bit cooler now.
Well, have a good one! I'll try and put my photos on tomorrow. It has taken me ages to sort out my disappearing photos.
