I didn't think I would do much writing during my trek, and that presumption proved true. There was just too much to write about, and usually no energy left to write about it at the end of the day. A very unique and fantastic experience. I finally got a chance to see what people call the "real Nepal". Not the over commercialized, western society wannabe Kathmandu. I met so many great people and learned a lot about the way of life in the mountains. My Nepali improves almost daily, and this proved very useful in getting people to open up to me a bit more and not just view me as another tourist with money to spend. I know this may be a bit dissapointing to all of my "fans" (namely my family), but I'm not going to write much about my trek now either. What is my reasoning... I don't feel like it. Please don't be upset, just be happy that I had one of the most amazing and beautiful experiences of my life. (Also one of the most physically challenging)
Here is the itinerary I followed:
Day 1-Boudha to Chisopani Day 2-Chisopani to Kuttumsang Day 3-Kuttumsang to Gopte Day 4-Gopte to Gosainkund Day 5-Gosainkund to Thulo Syabru Day 6-Thulo Syabru to Ghora Tabela Day 7-Ghora Tabela to Kyanjin Gompa Day 8-Kyanjin Gompa to Langshisha Kharka (then back to Kyanjin) Day 9-Kyanjin Gompa to Thulo Syabru Day 10-Thulo Syabru to Dhunche Day 11-Dhunche to Kathmandu (by bus)
I know that this itinerary probably means almost nothing to most of you. However, if you really feel like it you can look up more information on my trek by googling some of these names. I know, I'm lazy. Sorry... There are many things worth noting about my trek, but one thing in particular is that I didn't count how much money I brought until day 2 of my trek and realized that I brought quite a bit less than I should have. Therefore, I had to make up time everyday of my trek to fit everything in. In all I ended up saving 5 days by making everyday about 1/3 longer than originally planned. Still, the trek wasn't terribly difficult. Anyways, look at my photos and wish that you could have been there with me. Day after tomorrow I'll be leaving Kathmandu again and heading for the Sulu Khumbu region of Nepal, the home of Mt. Everest. This time I plan on bringing along plenty of cash and taking my time the whole way. In all I should be gone for about 3 weeks, but who knows. Maybe longer, maybe shorter. Thanks for reading.
