Hooked of Khorovadz

What is khorovadz you might be asking? It's BBQ...all different types...cow meat, chicken, pig...you name it...they've got it! You can find khorovadz just about everywhere in town...on the sidewalk, in small mom & pop diners, fancy restaurants. I strategically live across the street from a khorovadz restaurant...not really a restaurant but a house someone has converted into a khorovadz haven. In the snow or in the heat, you can get your khorovadz any time of the day. Given that the refridgerator in the apartment i live in does not work, i could not buy any food and had to rely on my friendly khorovadz man. I could actually open my window and scream across the street for him to prepare me "meg hav" (one chicken)...not a whole chicken..just ground chicken BBQed on a metal stick, then wrapped in lavash (very thin bread) with onions. So i've been on a steady diet of chicken khorovadz for 1 month now. My khorovadz man knows me by now...and the other day when i was walking down the street and saw someone i knew i was waving to get my friend's attention...but she did not see me...instead it was the Khorovadz man...and he thought i was very excited to see him.

Some days i stray and try other khorovadz joints, but i always come back to my loyal khorovadz man. If you're in town and want to stop by...the place is called "khorovadz" (big surprise!). The sign is only in armenian but i'll try to give you directions in my newly learned Armenian way.

It's on Hanrapedutyan Street, between Vernisaje (the weekend bazaar) and Tigran Medz Street(Tigran the Great). Across the street from the "Chess, Chess Club" and about 10 feet from the Europe Hotel.

bari akhorjag!
