We are about to leave for Milan and points north, but we have some partings observations about our time in Rome...

1. Gelato is a separate food group--at least one daily serving required.

2. We love the Piazzas full of people and music and shops.

3. Very helpful and cheerful people everywhere. This morning, the hotel concierge paid for our taxi to the train station!!

4. There seems to be another striking obelisk around every corner. We think perhaps we saw all 15!

5. Amazing churches everywhere.

6. Donatello, Ornella and family, our Roman cousins, provided very special experiences for us. They drove us to Palazzo Chigi, an hour from Rome, on Saturday night and cooked a delicious meal for us on Sunday afternoon.

7. Stylish Itlain women negotiate the cobblestones streets wearing 5 inch stiletto heels, better than we do in walking shoes.

8. Driving in Rome....can't even imagine!

9. Evidently they haven't heard of the health dangers of tobacoo over here.

10. Windbreakers are not necessarily waterproof! But memories of an unrelentingly cold, wet day in Rome can disappear with a glass or two of vino!

Tonight we will be in Bellagio and hopeflly see Tom and his group for dinner. If not, it means we're stranded some where along the way and we'll have new adventures to report next time!

Let us know if you are reading this by clicking on "guest book."

Ciao!
