Well it’s been 3 long months now in London without a holiday and so we decided to head off for a 4 day jaunt in Iceland. It’s one of those places that you don’t really think of adding to your itinerary when planning a holiday, but once you’ve been you’ll absolutely love and tell everyone about.
Since I could only take 2 days off work, the only way we were to take in as much as possible was to join day tours like the other tourists. Much less like our slow and easy way through South East Asia. The one thing that was definitely on my agenda was dog sledding. How could a dog-lover like me resist having a play with the cute little fluffy doggies!
I don’t really want to go on and on about everything I’ve seen and done there because I would be going on about it forever. But one thing for sure, if you ever visit must do the usual Golden Triangle trip which visits Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall. The waterfall is spectacular! Although the super jeep tours cost so much more than the bus tours you definitely get your money’s worth. Its adventure like no other! By the way, bring plenty of money, or a big limit on your credit card. This country is super expensive! The whole trip costed us 1,700 pounds and I could never justify spending AUS$4500 on a 4 day trip if I wasn’t earning pounds in London. Oh well, you only live once right!
Oh yeah, we did the Northern Lights trip and it’s not like what you see on the postcards. Apparently you can’t see any of the colours by the naked eye. All we saw was fading white lights and it did really dance around the sky. Very unusual but it was so cold that night that we didn’t enjoy it as much as we would have liked. Though, I did see a lot of shooting stars, and satellites running around in the sky. The Milky Way is really visible in Iceland as well.
I’ve uploaded plenty of pics too so you guys can see what a fantastic time we had there…jealous??? Hehe!
