pretty awesome architecture-heaps of sculptures and cool lookin buildings. habsburgs old palace grand ballroom was the highlight-gold everywhere. did luv the west european efficiency after the joys of the east
another overnight train...................thought i was pretty sorted until this young couple came and sat down in my carriage just as the train was moving off. and they brought with them a very noisy bundle of joy. happy days
italia - scooter-ville.com awesome crazy beautiful country. the people are mostly just crazy; especially when in control of an automobile. livin on pizza, pasta and gelati. good weather in rome, the rest not so; rain was coming in sideways down amalfi.......
venezia
you will never see anything like it. at high tide the water literally comes up over the footpaths so everything has a wet feel about it. gumboots very fashionable though.
great place for wandering and wondering. mostly "where the hell am i?" is really peaceful walking down the back streets and on the outer islands as there is no traffic anywhere except on the water. probably spent 80% of my time in venice not really sure of my location. had to laugh at tourists with their big designer maps trying to work themselves out. venice and maps do not go together.
have you ever watched someone watching their washing being washed? a thought provoking observation and i think i will claim an original tongue twister
demo from glass blower very cool. literally made this horse in about 45 seconds; he was half finished before you knew what he was doing. highlights st marks square-awesome. doges palace-some rooms walls and ceilings literally convered in paintings and their gold framing.
firenze
duomo-big. piazzale michelangelo very cool at night great views of the city.
michelangelos sculpture of david is a good 130 odd metres shorter than the pyramids but they have the same absolute command of their surroundings and awesome wow factor as you see them for the first time. i dont think i ever need to see sculpture again. i have seen perfection.
roma
saw heaps. awesome city. my favourite. enough said.
met someone who has been to timbuktu. timbuktu! how cool is that.
naples etc
good base for pompeii and island of capri-dont know how those roads stay on the sides of those cliffs but i am eternally grateful that they do. heaps of those stupid lookin 3 wheel trucks
sorrento nice. amalfi coast beautiful. roads, houses, everything just clinging onto the cliffs. am glad i live in a slightly flatter part of the world.
and in news just to hand
have finally had a shave. had a particularly messy gelati experience at the trevi fountain and decided it was time for my furry friend to move on, as nothing was getting between me and my gelati. R.I.P
