please note all observations are my own personal observations from my unique place 5"11' off the ground. they do not reflect japan as a whole or even kushiro from a more elevated or vertically challenged position.
has been snowing again recently. i think its great but have been told that i will soon get sick of it. tis the most beautiful fine powder snow i have ever seen-literally looks like everything has been sugar coated. awesome. bloody freezing tho-generally btwn -5 and 2 degrees during the day before goin well below at night.
speakers erected on every street corner dribbling shise all day all night. probably governmental brain washing jargon. but they cant get me cos i cant understand a frikkin word!
every japanese person seems to pride themselves on how many word they can get into a 5 second soliloquy directed in my general direction. best so far is 137.
information plagues that start bellowing at you as soon as you step inside their 12 metre radius (yes flat out in japanese)
hearing the little giggles as you exit the shop/building etc
ice cubes are smaller here
had an earthquake the other nite. was kinda weird was havin a dream that i was talking to some bloke and then i couldnt work why the fool had grabbed me and started shakin me. 5-6 seconds no damage
shopping trips can bring with them many questions; What the hell is it? How do you suppose i would go about cooking it? as i am normally asking myself these questions, the answers are usually foolish and unhelpful. they sell the tiniest little servings of fruit and vegetables tis kinda cute but not economical i.e. little trays with about 30 peas on them for equivalent of $2.50AU. some trips also include a visit to the apple section where i fork out $1.50AU for my weekly apple allowance (1 apple). in happier news my rice cooker is the bomb and my 10kg bag of rice (still love my bulk food) does not have the presence that it once did.
