The Great White Sea

Isla del Puenta-

I'm sitting on an ancient volcanic rock island in the middle of what was once a vast sea but now is a stretch of white salt. This island is the only sign of life with the prickly cacti reaching for the sun. I cannot describe in words how amazing this right now. It's like an island with a cactus forest. There are so many cacti here, it's unbeliveable.

All this beauty that I'm surrounded by reminds me of how beautiful life can be as well... the amount of geographical diversity I have experienced in such a short time has left me with a deep appreciation for this world.

Hotel-Uyuni 6:40 pm
It's down time which is nice because I'm exhausted from the trip to the Salar and the 6+ hour train ride from Oruro to Uyuni. Getting to travel in the first class cabin [tickets were incredibly cheap] was actually very nice--although after a while sitting 6 hours anywhere can be torture on the knees.

Next entry: Time to go home...
