We've just caught a long tail boat back to civilisation after spending a few days in paradise. We even had flying fish accompanying us on our way back. We were staying in a pretty rustic bungalow in a beach on the NW of the island. It is a little bay with coconut tree covered hills surrounding it. A super quiet place with the ocean lapping the shore about 3 m from our door. we spent our time swimming , laying in our hammock, reading and we we occasionally felt like it , a game of frisbeee followed by a swim in the water. speaking of which it is amazing, really warm, the colour is a mixture of crystal clear with a hint of turquise thrown in. insanely nice. our biggest worry was the remote possibility of a coconut falling down on us! we had discovered this secluded piece of paradise over a week ago when we had a bike and were exploring the island. it is inbetween 2 well known beaches and we saw a little dirt track that was in really dodgy condition so we decided to check it out. after about a km of nightmare dirttrack, especially on a shitty scooter, riding doubles, with a driver (sasha) who is pretty new to this, we saw the beach and knew we would have to come back and stay a while. the people here are really friendly, we ran into an Aussie crew, on of them had crazy wounds from falling off her bike. the biggest gravel rash/slashes in her back i have ever seen. it was a great advertisement for riding slow!(don't worry mum, i always do!) most of the people there were long termers cause it is a very cheap place.

we are in town (thong sala) now, just for a quick stop over so we can get a taxi to another secluded part of the island. we had heard about this place on the grape vine from some other travellers so we thought we should check it out.

before we went off we had experienced the famous full moon party which was a bit of a let down actually. maybe we had built it up in our minds to be something it wasn't. anyway, it was an experience. the next day we said goodbye to the crew of english lads we had been hanging out with. Steve, Matty, Nick, Malcolm, Danny and James had become our mates and it was really sad to see them off. Living in bondi we often (too often) see the shitty side of the english backpackers who live in bondi. these english guys restored our faith that there might be some hope yet for the "mother country". Unfortunately we didn't get to say goodbye to our venezualan friends Gabi and Mylene, we had also enjoyed exploring with them , but hopefully we will see them when we hit S.A.

So that is it for the moment, in about an hour the ferry arrives with another boatload to travllers and we will jump in one of the taxi that goes to meet them and head off to this new part of the island. i forget the name of the place we are going but i know it is on the north east of the island. if you look at a map of this island it is the place that looks like the cookie monster has taken a bite out of the island - look at a map and you'll know what i mean.

hope you all reading this are well

love Sasha and Sheila

Next entry: goodbye koh phan gan
