Magnetic Island trip
Got to the ferry in Townsville at 10.00. Departured 30 minutes later and got to the Magnetic Island at 10.15. The Island has 2500 year-around residents and a lots of different birds. More than a 100 different spices I reckon I’ve read somewhere. A few of them I met during my dinner… I checked in to the quit nice Arcadia Resort and had a dip in the pool. Then I went for a stroll around the block and realised that this is a really small place. No Internet places to be find :-) There’s some quite nice beaches, bush-walks and a koala park tough. Anyhow this Island seems nice but just to small for a lonely backpacker who’s actually getting a bit tired of sunbathing... So I’ll go back to Townsville tomorrow to get online and check out train or bus tickets down to Brisbane. I hope to get some work done on walkaboutdaybook.com, I’m considering having a go at ‘opening it’ for others who might enjoy it within a couple of weeks. Just need to fix the ‘New user signup’ and user-administration functions… And get to a connected town :-) Fiona, the Australian girl I met on the way to Singapore told me she’s decided not to go on longer trips than 6 weeks. She felt that was her limit for getting to homesick. I’m just a few days from 6 weeks and guess I now know what she’s talking about. Not that I plan to go home, just that I miss everyone that’s there…
