Journey to Townsville

The Mc Cafferty’s bus left Cairns at 14.30 and went by the coast (not close enough to be seen) down to Townsville with just a few stops in small towns on the way. The view was dominated by vast sugar cane fields (see image) and in the north some mountains. Having nothing to do but read and feeling my not meant for buses legs getting numb I heard a mobile-phone get an sms message. The tune was the same as my own Nokia and I suddenly realised what the tone meant. It’s composed of short and long beeps: --- - - --- (tree short, two long, tree short). It must mean SMS !! And I’ve had my phone for several years.. Not everyday one gets these kind of deep insights into reality :-) I arrived in Townsville at 1920 and got a room at Adventurers Resort for 20 AUD (=90SEK). Now I now what where I must draw the line in terms of hotel-rooms. Air-condition is a must in the tropical parts of the world. I went out for a pizza and came home at 2100 and turned the lights out at 2200. 0200 I was still awake, trying to start up the refrigerator with wide-open door in hope of defeating the heat. Uh. So from now on I’ll gladly pay some extra for AC :-)
