one week has passed. taiwan seems like a distant happening, something that i am sure i experienced yet feels vague and unfamiliar at the moment. I am in tai wai, the new territories staying with a friend up in the hills away from the hustle and bustle of hong kong. the trees sway outside the windows, the balcony offers reflection, the tv shows english football.
yesterday i spent about 4 hours downtown. i took the KCR to mongkok, collected some photos, caught a star ferry bus, then the ferry, headed by tram to western market and spend a few hours walking around Sheung Wan and ended up somewhere on the mid-levels. a beautiful walk stopped every now and then with a photo opportunity or a street scene i had to watch. the samosas from chungkink kept me going for a while, and i ended up walking down the escalators in soho and catching a ferry back over to kowloon, grabbing the KCR again which gave me time to finish my elliott smith book, and ended up at home on the couch watching randon italian football and cooking a good chilli. it's nice to have my own room. it's great to be back in Hong Kong.
