the happenings of the hours prior too -and newly departed from- new years have been monstrously entertaining. kicking off with a "feast" at subway (hey, there's only so much noodles and rice you can manage back to back after 4 months in asia) followed by brent and I subjecting ourselves to a lottery ride on the MRT not knowing where to go but heading in the viscinity of da'an park to visit liz for pre-drinks. after getting off at guting and walking up heping to da'an park (and picking up some wine at welcome) liz came thundering down the road on her red scooter. three on a bike (memories of jeremy's going away bash come flooding back to me) and finally we are inside the cosy rooftop aparment drinking gin and tonics with a small group of people. art and stan come later and it becomes louder with stans mini-cd player kicking some juice out. further into gin and tonics and further from meaningful conversation we leave to head down to PS for the party.
the party kicked off slowly. moose and gemma, buzz, greg were all there drinking wine and red faced in their celebrations. and so the festivities ensued... with many good friends at hand.. many drinks consumed... many paninis eaten in rushed starvation.. until the time came... 12.00. we all headed outside in the cold, people lit sparklers and everyone kissed and hugged while welcoming in a new year on the patio outside PS... incredibly cosy. then in for some shots, some other oddities, more food.. more drinks.. a spot of bartendering.. and the people fizzled out to see carl cox over at luxy spin his famous 4 decks..... i stayed with brent and jared playing blackalicious and letting loose on an empty cafe.. brent and jared climbed the water tower in severe inebriated state (me wondering when one of them would lose their footing and come crashing down).. but all went as planned, we came back in... the world started spinning from tiredness and gin and i summoned a taxi to take me to the safety and comfort of bed... a long ride looking out the window at a motionless city being moved by the lights of a taxi cab... the streets empty, then full, then empty.. the people happy and smiling.. the 101 shining like a rare jewel across an ink black sky.. the lights and the smiles of 2005 all merged into a dream of which i have no recollection.
