Symbols on a field of visions
Behind the curtain of sleeping eyes
On the instant of waking
Another world of dreams appears

If you are reading this and you happen to be a DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) agent that gets horny over the idea of destroying the planetīs last remaining remnants of rainforest, all with the sole mission of destroying all mind-altering plant species (i.e. Plan Colombia), then youīll probably wet your pants over this particular journal entry.

Last week, I participated in a sacred plant ceremony with a Shuar shaman, named Sebastian. Sebastian has been working as a Shaman for 40 years. I shall not reveal Sebastianīs last name because the DEA might swoop in and imprison him for possessing consciousness-altering vegetative species. Moroever, in light of the U.S. governmentīs love affair with pre-emptive strikes and the destruction of ecosystems in order to save Americans from all of those horrible drugs out there, I will not reveal the name of the plant that was used in the ceremony. Instead, I will call her Maria! Maria -- as well as all other mind-altering plants, except for cannabis -- is perfectly legal in Ecuador and anybody can grow said plants in their own back yard with no problems from Ecuadorīs open-minded government, which respects indigenous ceremonial rites.

This was my second time taking Maria, but the first time -- over a year ago -- was kind of disastrous since I threw up a lot and just hunched over most of the time because Mariaīs mind-bombasting effects scared the crap out of me.

Before consuming her, Sebastian cooked Maria in a pot of water, along with another symbiotic plant, for about 8 hours, until the plant combination became a thick, blood-red liquid. The Shaman told me not to eat any dinner before taking Maria, in order to avoid vomiting.

When I arrived to his house, which is about an hour away from my village, there was another client that was there to receive a Shamanic treatment for a chest ailment. Sebastian administered Maria to me at 8:30 P.M. I drank one shot glass of her, and by 9:00 P.M. I was beginning to feel her effects.

I felt like rocket fuel was coursing through my veins, but I could not move my body due to the nauseauting vertigo effect that Maria was casting upon me. At the super-consciousness level, I felt like a speck of dirt in the universe, humbled by the powerful pulse of Mariaīs energy, her spirit moving through me as if she were a live being.

Physiologically, Maria made me poop 3 times. And I pooped EVERYTHING out of me so that my pipes were completely cleaned out by the final poop. I truly felt like some kind of animal, because I was able to hear things I could not hear prior to communing with Maria. I saw many strange visions as well, and I had to consciously breathe in and out very deeply.

A couple hours into the ceremony, the Shaman began chanting loudly in Shuar and waving around a bouquet of plants that had a very powerful aroma. His chanting was hypnotic and haunting. I actually recorded it and enjoy listening to his voice when I take a dump. It makes my bowel movements easier.

I watched how Sebastian treated his patient. He chanted powerfully to the patient, then he would take swigs of a liquid containg a plant elixir, then he would spit the liquid as a spray all over the patientīs body, then slap the plant bouquet all over the patientīs body, thus repeating the process over and over again. It seemed kind of weird to me. I mean, how can you possibly cure someone by spitting your saliva all over them??

The ceremony lasted until around 1:00 A.M., but Maria did not depart from my being until around 3:00 A.M. when I was finally able to go to sleep. I donīt think I will be convening with Maria again. While the experience was indeed interesting and memorable, Supernova prefers other natural highs such as going to the gym and getting excited over Trader Joeīs all natural peanut butter.
