After making it into Narita on Thursday evening (local time) and staying at a nearby Holiday Inn, we hit the ground running Friday morning. We went back to the train station and eventually deciphered our way into the outskirts of Tokyo and from there on a train out to Nikko (a Banff like town pop. 20,000 2h north of Tokyo by slow train). Today (Saturday) we took a bus into the nearby hills and did around 8km of hiking to a height of around 1700m (6000ft?) and a temperature of 4degC. We saw a an amazing waterfall, some very pretty lakes and about 15cm of snow on the ground at one point! (We will upload the pictures later). Sunday (tomorrow) we are off to Tokyo to stay in the Ginza district. Their we hope to see a traditional Japaneze play (Kabuki The following day we fly to Singapore.
