Number 24 (20th October 2004 - 22nd October 2004)
Arriving in Thailand from Laos is a westernising shock to the senses. A fast, timetabled bus to Chiang Rai brought us back to prices, touts, poor beer, tourism, ATMs and education for the masses. Fortunately we were heading straight north to the Burmese border, only a couple of hours away. Unfortunately, our time with the Basques had reached its ultimate conclusion, suitably timed with a tremendous hangover as they headed west. Six weeks together, and all the Spanish we've managed to grasp is, "Porque not" (generally to the question, "another game of backgammon?"), and, "Por supuesto" (generally to the question, "another beer?")
What will happen in Burma?
