Walking to village

2004-12-03, Ko Phayam, Thailand

I'm back on the island. We decided to walk to the village this morning...and after an hour and a half...here we are! It'll be a long walk back under the sun. The road winds through the forest, which is a national park. It's filled with palm trees and cashew trees. The island's only agricultural export is cashews...which are sooo fresh!

I've started teaching english to the burmese girls that work in the kitchen of our resort. I don't know why but the burmese children don't go to school. I've asked around and nobody will tell me why. I think it's because they're illiterate and need to work to providefor their family.

Anyways...there have been a few more tourists arriving on the island. But it's still like an extended family.
