I recently spent the weekend exploring Chicago… what an amazing city! We left BG Friday morning – it took about 4 hours to get there. I passed through three states! Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. We stayed the Arlington international hostel near DePaul University (a.k.a. the nice-ritzy part of the city!). After checking into our 6 star accommodations! We (Jo, Fonzie and Petar) took the train downtown to the Aquarium. That was tons of fun. I highly recommend the aquarium. We saw lots of different kinds of fish, dolphins, penguins, whales, sharks, fish, turtles and lots of other neat sea creatures. After that we took “Kanada’s transportation adventure” (fly by the seat of your pants!) down Michigan Ave. to the John Hancock building. Where we got into the fastest moving elevator and took it to the 94th floor and looked out on the city at night! It was beautiful. This was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Chicago is a beautiful city… but it quite spectacular at night when you are able to look over the entire city. Next we went out for dinner… to a little restaurant – where we had the weirdest waitress ever. We then headed back to the hostel and hit the bars… Jo and I did a yummy shot!
Day two started early (after a night of almost being plan B-ed!). We started the day off right with a HUGE Mexican breakfast! My first ever… and we had it in Chicago! Then we headed to the Science and Technology Museum in the south end of the city… way far away! The museum was pretty cool… and the imax film we saw was lots of fun. Next we high tailed it to the Field Museum and checked out some of the exhibits. It was a nice museum, very similar to the ROM. After that Jo and I hit the stores. Shopping in Chicago was tons of fun… and crazy – attempting to look at everything in a couple of hours is insane! That night we had dinner at the Hard Rock Café. Yummy good food (boo sundial). On the way back to the hostel, we saw them filming ER… that’s right… watch out for me in the background of one of the scenes!
Sunday morning, we had breakfast in a little café close to the hostel. Jo and I headed downtown for more shopping… the stores were so huge! And checked out the high end stuff in Nordstroms – “fashionable” items require a certain kind of taste and credit card! We also hit up the “Tall Girl” store, where I almost got lost in the pants section (some of those pants were longer than me!). But, we made it back safely to the hostel to meet our ride! Sadly, the Chicago adventure came to an end… but we’ll always have Chicago!
