a quiet retreat

2004-11-05, new territories, Hong Kong

three days without sight of an MTR station, without so much as a busy road or neon lighting my every step. i am removed, up in the new territories, staying by the computer translating, a slow job, drinking copious amounts of coffee, sitting on the balcony and smoking dunhills while the wind blows in the trees beneath me.

i watched the movie irreversible last night, quite nauseating, literally. the film itself is a sort of reversed requiem for a dream, beginning in sickening horror, then through ups and downs moving backwards to love and excitement. the filming is at times annoying, swerving up and down continually in the beginning, its one of those films i would find hard to recommend but i have to.

apart from that i am looking forward to the weekend, will be heading back into town for some pakistani food (which i am craving) and whence he came are playing on saturday. then next week rupert arrives so we will go out for food and beers at shek-o perhaps! but until then i will be here a few more days, enjoying the quiet, and the late night champions league highlights!

Next entry: absinthe! oh absinthe
