The tropical whoosh at the door on BA’s severely air conditioned plane is always such a shock when landing in Accra, but now with new improvements at the airport at least the wait for immigration clearance is air conditioned; not any faster, just more comfortable.
Our tour guide, Onyameba, was on hand as expected with grins from ear to ear and whisked us through customs onto the 19 passenger Toyota bus that would be our horsepower for the next three weeks.
The first night was restfully spent at the Erata Hotel a short distance from the airport. A second dinner for the evening (the first was in-flight) was served in the hotel dining room which sits above the pool area. An orientation session was conducted by Onyameba, complete with a printed souvenir itinerary booklet. Sleep came easily as the bleary eyed group stumbled back to their rooms.
