So I'm back from the trek, safe and well.

It was definitely the best experience that I have had so far on this trip. We had bumped into people we knew who had been trekking and the news had been all good form them though the genreral concensus was that the group you go with is one of the most important factors.

So the night before the trek we were having a meeting with the group to discuss where we were going the itinery and meet each other, Me and mich get there on time for this meeting and wait half an hour for anyone else to turn up, some were even an hour and a half late and drunk, by this point we wondered what we had got ourselves into!

Anyway all turned out very well, they were all a slightly crazy but great fun, there were three english guys an american guy a scottish girl, a dutch girl (pinched from another trek as she was with all couples and wasn't enjoying it) and then two older couples one of which was thai. the english guys had all lived in leeds and were great fun to talk to.

The trekking was cool, not nearly as hard work as I thought though, I mean you sweated a lot in the heat and there were some very steep sections up and down, but non beyond my wlaking capabilities at all and we spnet most of the way wondering along chatting.

We went elephant riding again though this time it was much more memorable in the deepest jungle trampling through rivers and over trees in a procession, my bum was sore afterwards though. we also did some more bamboo rafting, this time we had the worst raft in the world, it was a foot under the water the whole time and tipped all over the place. We were soaked within seconds, it was great fun though haven't, laughed so hard in a long while and once we were wet we made it our misson to wet everyone else. The only hairy moment was when another raft crashed into ours and one of the girls fell in, she isn't a very strong swimmer and we all panicked a bit when she went under, luckily one of the guys jumped in and got her and i hauled her out of the water in a daring rescue.

By far though the best bit of the reak was the second night, we stayed in a hilltribe village right out in the jungle, had a great dinner then watched the locals kids do some dancing and singing for us, everyone was very welcoming and friendly. We got hungry again quite quickly (no wonder the thais are som slim they eat nought) and one of the guys who was a chef suggested we buy a piglet and then get them to slaughter and cook it for us and the rest of the villagers. This was probably the most real experience we have had so far, hearing the pig be killed and seeing how they prepared and cooked it, a bit grusome but great as it wasn't something organised by the trek. When the meat came it was brilliant, so much taste we all had loads then talked and drank beer far too long into the night.

Next day felt slightly worse for wear we headed back. Came back Friday evening and we all got ready to go one a post trek night out, was a great night until there was a slight disagreement betwen two of the guys over the dutch girl. The ensuing evening long argument marred an otherwise brilliant time with those guys but you can't win them all. Yesterday went with some of them to the pool to relax then went out with some other people in the evening for a few drinks, also callled my boyfirend as it was his 24th birthday, was very wierd to speak to him and phone cut out as ran out of credit but still great to hear his voice and that he is well.

Today i have been to have ad get my legs waxed, both painful but beneficial!

Anyway have to go as going to see Shaolin monks perofrmance this evening which should be cool. then tomorrow pobably moving on to the next place we'll see and will update you all soon.
