Morning Mosque

Bless the mosque for waking us up at 6am in the morning ... if only I had a clue what the heck they were going on about.

A local woman called Maria acted as our guide around the surrounding area. We went into the plantations in the hills and sat on top of a hill looking over the Tamil Nadu valley, mountains and waterfalls. Walked through the plantations and found coffee, sandalwood, cinamon, ginger, curry and loads of others. We also met a few of the local people living there.

Maria was actually from Sri Lanka but couldn’t tell anybody because some of the locals are a bit racist. She’d had an arranged marriage with a guy from Germany but didn’t like it there or the food (curried sauerhraut maybe!) and so came back and had to struggle to look after her children. It’s pretty hard here to make a living. She wanted to come to the UK to be our housemaid.
