Today it was an early start in order to catch the Tranz Alpine train from Christchurch to Greymouth on the west coast.
The Tranz Alpine is said to be one of the top 6, most picturesque train journeys in the world. It travels across the Southern Alps, with snow-capped mountains, still blue lakes, deep gorges and rivers.......
I bought a souvenir book on the train so I could see what it was like!!!!!!
I'm staying in Greymouth just for night. Tomorrow, it's another bus journey further South to Franz Josef. The main attraction here is the glacier the runs down from the mountains through temperate rain forest!! (knowing my luck, there'll be a heatwave and it'll have melted by the time I get there!)
