Caves, caves and more caves

2004-10-20, Otorohanga, New Zealand

Yesterday I drove to Otorohanga and saw my first Kiwi, [the bird not Oakley- wearing local!]. OK, it was in a Kiwi-House and not in the wild but the chances of actually seeing one in its natural habitat are very slim!

Today I did the touristy thing of visiting the Glowworm Caves - yep, caves full of glowworms - very interesting. No, really!
And in the afternoon I took a long circular drive that took in surfing beaches, more waterfalls and more caves.

By the way, a guide (tour not girl) at the caves told me that this year has been the wettest in NZ for 110 years. Just thought you might like to know.
