it has been said that no man is an island, so it was a great surprise for someone like me who lived only five miles away from ground zero, to observe a day of remembrance in this peaceful palawan island halfway around the world. the people of the island, both natives and expats, congregated at the plaza this morning to observe a moment of silence. no one forgot, it was heart warming to belong to this community of many nations who somehow ended up in this island because of it beauty and peacefulness come together to stand against hatred and intolerance. if no man is an island, then no island is an island by itself. palawan island did not forget what happened in manhattan island, bali island, spain, turkey ...
