And then we assisted it a little more...
The truth is we got in from Laos yesterday afternoon, only to find that the over night train to Bangkok was full. We then headed into town to find a guest house.. none of them looked very appetising and there was said to be nothing to do in Nong Khai. RIGHT... . we get to this beautiful guest house right on the river.. bamboo chairs for chilling, hammocks. Tiled areas with Thatched covering for eating... and it's cheap, clean and the food is excellent. To make matters even better it's run on a trust system so you just help yourself to beer / etc.. and write it in the book.. it's so nice. So we went to the train station this morning and changed the tickets for Sunday night, instead of our previous Sat night tickets. We then settled into some biking for our days fun..
We is now one extra as we have a new play mate to hang out with, which is cool (Dutch gal whose name I can't pronounce).
So..our tour on Bikes was like the the famous 5 (English set of books about 5 kids who were always getting into interesting capers.. in a very stiff upper lip kind of post war kind of way.. 'Oh Timmy he's so licky (Timmy's a dog)'. It's horribly un PC, but rather funny to read now). Anyway..we went to a park that was created by a guy who supposedly fell down a hole and met a buddist teacher.. apparently no-one else can see this teacher except him.. (I suspect that he fell rather hard !). He then saw fit to create the most enormous (8 stories high some of them), sculptures from Concrete. They are unreal..
Having exhausted our desire for scary concrete.. we rode for about 10 miles which nearly killed Pete, he was glowing like a farriers Forge by the time we arrived back at the guest house.
Tonight will be spent by the river enjoying the beers and perhaps we will go and see the Chineese opera which is currently showing because of a festival. It's billed as being like strangling cats whilst banging dustbin lids together.. mmm.. sounds appealing..
So I will now be back in Bangkok on Monday the 19th...
Ciao for now Kids
Stay safe and remember.. Poisonous snakes are not great Christmas presents.. for kids.
