Yesterday we went to the site of Nouvelle France. In reality, it was a village made out to look like an early French settlement in Québec. It had actually been constructed for a film, and the Canadian government just decided to go with it and turn it into a historic site. It was really neat, and there was a great view of the Saguenay River and the Canadian countryside. There were a lot of actors playing characters of the time period, such as a priest and a housewife. The buildings were all really well made, and it was a good trip. We were also fed a very good meal there, which consisted of soup, salad, chicken, and some sort of maple syrup cobbler for dessert which was really good. Other than that, the week has been pretty normal. It has passed very quickly, but normally. I have been skipping the activities I don t like, such as Québec Dance and Music, but this week I have played sports twice. I played ultimate frisbee on Monday and badminton on Wednesday. The class is also going really well. I m learning a lot of new vocabulary, and I have noticed much improvement in my daily speaking. I have had two presentations this week. For the first one I brought an article to class and then asked discussion questions, and the second one was a group presentation on the history of Québec. They have both gone pretty well, and I don t think our professor is really grading anything hard anyway. The class is really low pressure, which makes it much more enjoyable for me. That has pretty much been it for this week. This weekend is my last here, and we go to Tadoussac on Sunday, where we will go whale watching and also explore some of the old cities.
