What an insane couple of days. I will be brief in my tale, because internet in Europe is incredibly expensive! Ok, Thursday, we had a big dinner for the French Immersion program at a French restaurant. At the dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to one of the students in French (of course), Wallonian, German, English, Portugese, Spanish, Greek, Polish, Japanese, Chek, Croatian, and Italian. (that gives you a good idea of how diverse the student body is) After, a big group went to the Tam Tam, this tropical bar. It was awesome, my drink literally smoked. Then, Heather and I met Ray & Mustafa—two guys from Morocco and coffee with them in a café. Friday was the last day of class and we had our little graduation ceremony. We had champagne and all the usual Belgian festivities. After, goodbyes were abundant and those of us who were still in Liege went to the Maison de Pequet for evening festivities. (the Maison de Pequet is from approx the 1700s, still operating!) Let me explain what Pequet is, it is a Liege alcohol that is a predecessor to Gin. At the Maison, they mix the Pequet with fruit juices to make a really yummy drink. (all kind of flavors, lemon, wildberry, soleil, etc etc) They also do flaming shots of piquet, which I tried—an interesting experience. Alas, I said my farewell to Liege and Petra (my awesome friend from Croatia) this morning and Heather and I took the three hour train to Luxembourg. Let me tell you about Luxembourg. I am moving here. It is like a scene out of a movie. The scenery is fantastic and the air is clean and oh, so fantastic. Heather and I went on the walking tour of Lux and saw everything there is to see. We walked pretty much the entire costemates (ancient fortifications that have been here since 900s) and took plenty of photos. We are staying in a hotel in the middle of the Ardennes forest. It is incredible! We had these terrific ice cram concoctions with loads of fresh glace (ice cream) and fruit. It is incredible here, I don’t want to leave tomorrow morning! Alas, nous allons aux Bruxelles demain (we go to Brussels tomorrow) and I am super excited!
