School, activities, etc......

Well, so far the school has been going really well. My prof. is pretty tough and he likes to give tons of handouts, but Im learning lots of new stuff, like how to politely say that a woman is really old. The activities I ended up with are exterior sports on Mondays like football and ultimate frisbee and choir on Wednesdays. I was naturally a little worried about the choir thing, but it ended up being all right. For my atelier, which is just a fancy French word for activity, I chose Earth Sciences, not necessarily because I like geology but just because it will let me see the most of the surroundings. As far as my classes go, I have two oral presentations: I have to talk about an article and also read some small piece of literature. Luckily, I found out that my classes here wont count towards my GPA, because there is a good chance I wont be able to make an A. I like the structure of the class, because instead of doing lots of grammar we spend the majority of the time just speaking on certain subjects or going over different problem areas of French. For instance, there are like 5 words that mean to bring, so he gave us a handout and we had a worksheet on it. Ive made friends with about everyone who rides the bus with me in the mornings, and it is nice to have a group of people to sneak in some English speaking with. It is funny because we all speak English right before the van picks us up and right after it drops us off, but have to cease in between. That is all for now.....tomorrow is our first excursion, to Lac St. Jean, so I will write about it soon
