2004-07-03, Montreal, Canada

We spent most of the day today in and around the Olympic Park. First, we went up in the tower that goes above Olympic Stadium. It is apparently the world's tallest leaning tower, and there is a huge observatory at the top. You could see the entire city of Montreal from the top, including much of the botanical gardens. Next, we went to the biodome, which featured many animals in their native habitats. For instance, the "Polar World" exhibit had penguins in an Antarctica-like setting, with ice and water. I liked it more than a normal zoo, because the animals were in much better settings, and seemed less out of place than in a zoo. Most of the animals weren't kept in cages. After that, we ate and then went to the Botanical Gardens. There were an infinite amount of different flowers, trees and shrubs here and it was huge. We ended up only seeing about half of the gardens along with the accompanying insectarium. The good weather helped make it a great day.
