Landmine museum & Temples

Now we’ve had our three days at Angkor Wat and it was great. The temples were beautiful and some of the carvings were just unbelievable! I won’t bore you with the details because you will all have to look at 80 photos or so of the place when I get back anyway. But i will tell you that I almost became a stalker trying to get photos of Monks. I was just following them around trying to take their photos all the time. Then I got scared and started talking to one for a while before asking to take his photo instead of just chasing him!

Today we went to the Landmine museum owned by Aki-Ra (an ex Khmer Rouge soldier). Emil had a concert and raised money for them so we went to leave that. The museum was amazing and apparently there are more landmines in Cambodia that there are children! I was quite shocked. The museum has lots of paintings, detonated landmines gathered from the local area and stories by Aki-Ra about the time spent in the army. Very interesting. Here is the web address and you can read a wee bit about the place:

Well worth a visit. After that we went to give blood (aren’t we the little Samaritans today?!) and then had a massive lunch.

Starting to book flights and coaches for the road home, only four weeks left...can you believe it?! It feels like only yesterday that we left?!!?!?!?!?!?! AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!

Don’t want to come home yet, has to be said. The girl we are traveling with is traveling for another 6 YEARS! Not that I am jealous of course, I am above that and do not envy her in the slightest (aye right!).

Well! I’d better get back to job hunting!

See you all TOOOO SOON!!!!!

Rach
