A Korean female teacher turned to me in the staff room and said, "Jeff, do you use rubbers?" Uh... what? "Do you use rubbers?" My mind was trying to figure out what she was trying to say but I was too busy laughing. I got up and went to her desk, still laughing, and asked her what she was reading. She pointed and asked again "do you use rubbers?" I looked to the word her finger acknowledged. It was "rubble." She was asking me if we use the word "rubble" with a "S" to make it plural. As you can imagine, she was quite embarrassed when I explained the source of my hysteria.
Did you know video games are a "sport" over here? It's true. There are two TV channels devoted entirely to covering matches of Starcraft, Warcraft, and other kill-each-other games. There is plenty of fame and money involved. And it helps explain how people spend hours a day in the Internet cafes.
