Today was another early morning...you cant take too much sleep when you are in a tiny 4X4 car!! But we got up and headed to a place called the Balconies. It is a piece of rock that jets out from the cliffs and just looks amazing. We hiked about 30 minutes to get to it, and it was definately worth it, a beautiful hike to an even more rewarding end. You could see for miles from this rock, and it was just amazing!! Again, since we had gotten there so early, we were the only ones there. It definately is rewarding to go to all of these amazing places early and be able to experience them with nothing else but nature around you. We sat on the edge of the world and just took it all in for about an hour.
From there we tried to go to this place that had aboriginal artwork...but ended up on a neverending bumpy dirt road in the middle of no where...our little car could barely take it!! We finally found a little pull off and walked to what was supposed to be a waterfall...guess it was out of season...it was a little trickle...really pretty though. We stayed there for a few hours, caught up on our journals, and then headed back to town.
On our way home we ran into wild emus!! It was the coolest thing, they are very prehistoric looking, like raptors or something. They stared at us, and then took off into the woods...SO COOL!! We finally made it back to town, got some dinner, and then headed off to find another camp site for the night...we found it and headed to find firewood before it got dark. We found a lot at this site, guess not as many people used it...while we were finding firewood I heard a sound about five feet to my right...as I turned to look, there was a kangaroo about five feet from me!! It was about 7 feet tall, and had a stomach that was at least 2 times as wide as mine...HOLY CRAP!! I stood there for a second in pure shock before Haley walked right into me, not even knowing what was going on...then she turns, and goes, "hey little guy," and I was like, he is NOT little, RUN!! We escaped death!! We got back to the campsite and set up the campfire...unfortunately about 30 minutes later a big storm rolled in and the rain put out our fire not long after it was set aflamed...so it was another LONG LONG night in the car...we played more cards, played hang man, the dot game, Mash (how 6th grade!!) and then headed to bed around 8pm. Another night well spent with Haley...hopefully we dont kill each other before the end of this trip!!

Next entry: Last day with the car...
