Port was very nice. Adam drove us up. It was Adam, Alex, Alex’s sister Gab, Amber, and I. We all needed to get away from Evatt, and I really wanted to just get around some kinda family again. The drive takes three hours, and on the way we stopped on a mt. top to view the scenery. The whole coast is laced with mts. So it is very nice.
I hung with Adam and his family the first day, and he took me around to see the beaches and etc. We ended up hiking along some nice places. For supper of course we had meat off the barbecue, the Australian stereotype is true. Every occasion involves firing up the barbecue.
That night we met back up with the girls and went out in Port. The town is much smaller than Newcastle, so the there was one main pub the kids are age went to. I met some of Adams, and Alex’s local friends, and we had fun.
The next day I was hanging with Alex’s family. Her family reminded much of mine. They were big with four girls and one boy. So the commotion of people was always there, but it felt great. We went and walked downtown that day, and went and saw “Troy” in the theatre. That night her parents, cooked a big roast on the barbecue, and we had a fulfilling meal. Then we played Taboo, and talked, and eventually went to bed.
Then next day was just morning fun, then time to go home. In all I was just happy to get away from the college, and relax in a cozy home, and be around a family. Family is special, and to me at times with me and my bro, and sisters, it may seem crazy. But we rely on each other so much in the end, and I miss that most of all.
