Trumpeter Swans at the National Elk Preserve, Largest Bird in North America
It was very interesting to find out the trumpeter swan is the largest waterfowl in North America. The average weight is 25 pounds and has a wing span of 8 feet! They have the long beautiful neck that you would expect to see on a swan.
We watched them in the waterway near the national elk preserve right outside of Jackson Hole. They are also seen all around the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem but we have onlly seen them at the elk preserve.
