The first part of this story is how we came to find the Oasis Juice Bar in case you think I have just rambled off into the ether!!!
One of the many adventures we had while in Galveston was "laura and the flat tire". When we first got my bike out to go on a ride, the rear tire was completely flat. Robert pumped it up and off we went. Got to Fisherman's Wharf, had a great lunch, walked around a bit and decided to head back.
Usually we can keep up with each other, but on this particular day I kept falling further and further behind, it seemed to be very hard to pedal my bike, and to make matters even more comical, I was told by a couple of people sitting or walking outside, I was being left behind. Yes, I was.
Robert had found a small market and we went to see what they might have in the way of fresh salad fixings. There we discovered the reason I was having such trouble keeping up was the fact my back tire was half flat! Robert pumped it up and we made to back to the RV park. The next day we took the bike to a repair shop to get it fixed.
I know, this is supposed to be about the Oasis Juice Bar and Market...........So here is that part of the story. We had parked the truck near the Oasis Juice Bar and Market but it was closed at the timesmoo. Cate told us the couple that run the place were on vacation but would be back and we should go and try out their lunch.
So of course, we decided to check it out. It is in one of the old buildings downtown and has a very nice feel about it as you walk in. The market portion has some nice offerings of organic foods, spices, recycled paper products, and so on. It was a pretty impressive array of goods. At the back of the store was the juice bar. They had both smoothies and juice drinks. We both tried out a juice drink. Mine was delicious. They also have wifi so we found a table near the window so I could people watch and work on my computer. We had the lunch special which was vegetarian bean/rice chili that was quite nice served with blue corn chips. Every day they have a daily speciual and also have sandwiches and a few other items.
Their philosophy is fresh, organic and vegetarian fare. The same goes for the products they sell in their market. It was a very nice place to spend the day.
