High places

My last and only visit to Singapore was 3 years ago, and I was back then impressed by the modern and beautiful city, since I like modern cities I planned this trip to touch base again in Lion City and use it as a hub for my one month trip. But I wasn’t expecting it to be a highlight of the trip since I have been here before, and in my last day of my one month long trip I had a really amazing experience visiting the new addition to the Singapore skyline being it the brand new Marina Bay Sands. A great success of engineering is basically three tall skyscrapers and on top of them a boat, which has an observation deck, restaurants and infinity pool.

I arrived at Marina Bay Sands around 5pm and went directly to take the elevator to the top. From the top there is the modern view of the Central business district to the north, to the south the view of several container ships floating in the Singapore strait, to the west the view of the world´s busiest port; the port of Singapore and to the east a view to the city including the Singapore Flyer. Three years ago I remember the Singapore Flyer to be advertised as the best high place to get a view of Singapore, but now is completely overshadow by the great views and experience the Marina Bay Sands is.

One hour later past 6pm, I had the great night views from the top, I took so many pictures that my camera battery died, after wandering around on the top more than the average person would I took the elevator down and my camera let me shoot a last picture, this time looking up from street level. Being my last night I kept on exploring the city and had my trip last dinner in Chinatown with a couple of Tiger beers.

I don’t know when I’ll have the chance to visit Singapore again but after this short visit and great time I had, makes me think of Paulo Coelho and I quote “Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time”. I hope he is right.
