Shhhh

On Nyepi day  – Balinese New Year, the day for meditation and absolute silence in Bali, - which this year falls on Friday, March 23, the entire island of Bali will be closed down for 24 hours. So very quiet and Peaceful... only sounds of nature as I woke up this morning early to enjoy the silence and the bright clean skies... zero polution from cars, bikes, fires, etc! A beautiful half rainbow joined the celebration. No one has informed the roosters of the absolute silence for the day.

I photographed 100 copper pendants, cropped and adjusted color, numbered each item and named all of the stones. I was pretty busy for this day of rest. I was not allowed to leave the hotel so I swam in the pool in the afternoon visiting with the other guests. I really enjoyed the silence. In the evening I read in my hammock until the natural light put an end to the process... I finished my fourth book for the trip. I followed the Balinese rule and did not use any lights.... I watched two movies on my laptop and used the light of my computer to put the inventory numbers on each of the 100 pendants. It has been so nice to have the wifi at the hotel. I have already sold my first piece of the 2012 line!

It rained really hard in the night and this morning instead of hearing the usual buzz of the motorcycles as an alarm clock I heard booming thunder it was a nice transition from the silent day to the hum of activity that is normal.
