Last day to relax

Karen and I go down to the cathedral and then wander back - today is our last chance to go to the street market. We find the vendor who has galletas con crema (like waffle flavored batter poured into a grill with little round muffin-tin-type pockets, with pudding centers..) At 2 for a quota we splurge and spend a dollar.

My friend Romel picks me up and we go to the Metro Centro shopping mall for lunch while we wait for his wife Marlyn to get off work at the Social Security hospital. She’s an anesthesiologist there. We get a chance to talk and I relay information from our friends at the Peace Corps and the US Embassy about an idea he has for a project in Santa Rosa de Lima, where he has his offices. But he’s come back early this morning by 3-hour bus ride from visiting his grandmother so he’s tired. His wife is tired at the end of her shift, and I've got tons of last minute things to do so we make it an early day.

We help Cindy celebrate her anniversary at the feria gastronomica – she has invited a very nice young couple who has been meeting her at church each Sunday, and Herberdh and his wife also join us. The food is on Cindy – very generous of her!

Tonight I have to unpack and check everything in the room to be sure we get all of the supplies for the teachers over to UNIVO – a case of everything getting more disorganized before they get re-organized. I’m up a little late printing the certificates for the teachers so they can be given tomorrow to the UNIVO Rector for his signature.
