The team reunites

We’re having an especially great weekend. The San Salvador part of the T2T team arrived Fri. night to spend some time with us and see San Miguel.

They weren't here when we expected them so we tried to call – and learned more about the phone system in the process. First, the cell phone I was “loaned” didn’t have enough money on it to make a call to an out of area phone. Next, the room phone wasn’t working so I trudged over to the office to find it was “bloqueado.” So, we un-bloqueado-ed it and I called only to have the call go to “voz.” Luckily at that moment the van pulled in. My friend, Dianne, apologized that she couldn’t find the phone in her bag before it went to voice mail.

After getting them checked in and walking to nearby Mama Gallina’s for dinner we all had an early night.

This morning found us having breakfast and waiting for Lic. Salvador Amaya, the UNIVO liaison, to arrive at the hotel. He went with us in the van to Guatajiagua, home of the famous black pottery, and also his home town. He is a great guide and took us to several of the homes where families work together to create the pottery. Several of our group helped keep the economy rolling. (See the pictures for more information about this amazing process.)

We stopped at a nice restaurant for lunch on the way back and then the San Salvador group packed up and headed back to the capital. We enjoyed very much having us all be together again.

Tonight we walked to Pizza Hut (pissa hoot) for a quick dinner and called it a day.
