Arriving in Innsbruck

I’m not that keen on air travel and approaching Innsbruck Airport is quite a scary experience! The pilots have to acquire a special licence to land a plane in the narrow valley between two sides of towering mountains. We seemed to hover around for an excessive length of time before being allowed to land on the short runway, which necessitated a noisy amount of reverse throttling (if that’s the correct term ). On the upside, we gained amazing views of the surrounding Alps and I managed to stick the compact against the mucky windows to produce passable photographs.

When we stepped down, the weather was amazing. It was a hot, bright and clear evening and we were only 30 minutes from our destination – Seefeld.
