Sydney Day Trip

The trip to Sydney was short and fun. I went with my Friend Phil who goes to school and Kansas University, and he also will be my traveling companion for my trip to New Zealand in July. We had planned on seeing Sydney for the day, then going to a free “Jet” concert at Fox Studios, and then go out to the bars at Coogee beach. But after we had seen the entire city, walking the whole time, we were tired and didn’t go to the concert or out, instead we road the train home.
Sydney wow, the whole atmosphere of that place reminds me San Francisco. Even though I have never been myself to San Francisco from what I have seen on TV, is an exact resemblance. Forget the fact that San Francisco is very hilly, and Sydney is flat. If you are out on the Harbor, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. We walked to Darling harbor, and, and through the Queen Victoria building. The QB building was a shopping mall for the extremely wealthy. They had every top brand of clothing, from designers throughout many countries of Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Let me restate that my one disturbing complaint of this Country is that there are no Taco Bells. But being in Sydney, we were thinking of course they should have at least one. And looking it up in the yellow pages we did find that there were in fact, four. The closest one to us was a few blocks away. While walking there, I had devised a plan in my head to buy $20 worth of tacos, and then just ration them slowly for a few days, so to get my fill. But once we arrived at the location. We found a Pizza Hut had overtaken the Taco joint, and at that moment of truth, tears overtook my eyes. Okay, I didn’t cry, but man it was disappointing. I could taste that taco.
So we finally got to the Harbor with the Opera House and man it was spectacular. It could have used some power washing on its outside, but it is what the say it is, beautiful and an emblem of Sydney. We then booked a ferry ride through the harbor so we could see the entire city from a nice distance. It was great timing too, b/c when we returned the sun was setting over the city. Once off the ferry we walked up to the Opera House and saw it up close and there was a lovely wedding reception going on as well. Everything was elegant around this place. An outdoor bar/bistro sat right next to the Opera House, and a Jazz band was entertaining its guests.
After dark, we grabbed some supper and went home. The train ride takes two and a half hours, so we mostly slept. The end. Not the best told story, but you get the idea.
