DAY TWO - GALWAY

After only 2 hours sleep, it was time for breakfast at the hotel. I enjoyed your basic bacon and eggs and then on the bus headed to Clonmacnoise. Clonmacnoise was founded in 545 AD by St. Ciaran and is set on the banks of the River Shannon. We drove through a light mist and stopped along the way to take some pictures of the wonderful countryside. What a view! Once we reached Clonmacnoise the sun came out and we enjoyed a nice tour of the grounds. The celtic cross tombstones were enormous, and I got a kick out of watching this little dog run around and mark his territory on every one! I grabbed a cup of coffee there in the café in hopes it would wake me up. It didn’t work. I slept a little on the bus. We arrived at the Ardilaun House Hotel in Galway, had a couple of hours to relax before dinner. Instead of relaxing, I went down to the pool, but ended up in the sauna for a little while. I showered and hurried up to the room to get ready for dinner. Dinner was amazing. I had the Seafood medley and salad for an appetizer, the Hake fish on sweet potato with a cream sauce for dinner and cheesecake with strawberry ice cream for dessert. I went for a little walk to the Salthill area of Galway and strolled the shore of Galway Bay to finish the evening off. At the Ardilaun House Hotel there was a wedding reception going on… and man, do they know how to party! There were over 300 guests and I know most of them didn’t make it to their rooms till well after 5am.
