Okavango Delta Adventure : Special mokoro / walking safari with the wonderful guide Christof
The world famous Okavango river is called the Kavango River as it flows through Namibia , and the delta ecosystem begins at Ngepi. We took to the river on a special mokoro /delta walking safari with the wonderful http://ngepicamp.com/ guide Christof .
Normally http://ngepicamp.com/ offers seperate mokoro guided rides and bird walks. Cristof was determined to make our last day special, so gave us a combo! Kept us safe from crocs, hippos, snakes, and sharp plants, and showed us many special things. What a wonderful, knowledgeable guide he is!
During the walking Safari through watery grass area where the path was unclear, Robert asked Cristof about snakes. Cristof said he had had a group of German Birders where we were walking, and that he had spotted a rare bird they really wanted to see. However, when they looked toward his to see which direction he had seen the bird they noticed that he was all standing on a big snake. Cristof, who wears shoes on the walk to his village, mostly leads safaris in shorts, barefoot and shirtless . The snake struck him four times on the leg, but thankfully it was constrictor (?) and not poisonous! Yikes?
