Margie graciously returned us to the OR Tambo International Airport, where we flew to Lusaka, Zambia. When we arrived at Lusaka Backpackers we were told they do not have camping anymore. We looked at a few other places but decided to just spend one night in a room and then head on the Flatdogs via Chipata. Being able to do this was made so much easier because of Clifford, our taxi driver.

We had arranged to be picked up at the Lusaka airport and Clifford picked us up. He then took us to the various other places we tried to see about camping. When it was determined we were going to only spend one night, he took us to the bus station--Robert stayed with the car and luggage and Clifford walked me to the bus office to buy the tickets. He then took us back to Lusaka Backpackers to drop our luggage and then took us to the Manda Hill Shopping Center to get supplies for our trip.

The next morning he was there at 5:20 a.m. on the dot to take us to the bus station and helped negotiate the touts that are waiting to help load your luggage on the bus. Clifford works with Lusaka Backpackers and the numbers we have for him are cell: +260 977 811794, +260 967 811794, +260 955 811794. Lusaka Backpackers should also be able to help you get in touch with him.

After a 6 1/2 hour ride, we arrived in Chipata at Dean's Hillside Camp where we set up camp for the evening, had dinner and visited with some young people from the Netherlands who had just spent 3 months in Malawi. Moffatt, a taxi driver we had used before came by and made arrangements for us to go to Flatdogs.

The next morning he had a full load so we got a ride with Moses Mbao= phone 0976507950. We had a very entertaining ride with a wide range of topics being discussed! Got to Flatdogs and were greeted by some wonderfully familar faces.

Drove to the campsite and our same spot was available for us!!!! Got ourselves settled in remembering all the wonderful times we had and looking forward to some new adventures. As we came in on the road to Flatdogs, we were greeted by 5 giraffe, warthogs and bushbuck.
