Sexy Pink… Personal indulgence
I can’t believe how quickly time flies…. I am having a nice dinner at Taco Casa for happy hour. I took photographs of 20 new copper rings and 45 new silver earrings. Yesterday was personal indulgence day. I had a one-hour massage and a pedicure. I bought a new flower vase and an arrangement of beautiful tropical flowers (the flowers were only 10,000 Rp about $1.20) the vase I will give as a gift to the hotel when I leave it is all hand painted. I would love to bring it home but it is heavy. It was only 25,000 Rp @ $3. I had wanted to buy some sexy pink heliconia (my favorite flower) and an ornamental purple banana (has cute fuzzy little purple bananas and a big pink flower) a close second in the favorites category… I wanted them since I first got here but I didn’t have a big heavy vase and I didn’t think I could get one so inexpensively. I may still stop in and get my sexy pink, what’s another 20,000 Rp. These are difficult to get back home and of course expensive.
I finished off yesterday with dinner at the Indian Restaurant as it was buffet night. I sat upstairs in the peaceful quiet space overlooking rice paddies and a perfectly clear night with the stars shining brightly. Heaven on earth for sure… Note to self, Indian food late at night makes for weird dreams… I got into two very realistic car wrecks in a snow storm, and had some more dreams that took place in Bali I don’t remember them other than a Balinese woman trying to comb my curly hair and saying it was too oily (I guess this came from my having a massage that night and letting them massage my scalp with oily fingers). I think my unconscious mind was trying to warn my conscious self to be really careful driving here in Bali. Every day I have some unexpected challenges on my motorcycle, on my way to the spa that night I came quickly upon a very slow moving moped… as I passed the man I noticed he was very old maybe 80 just putting along on the vespa down the crazy busy street with cars and bikes swarming around him. I pictured my nana riding the vespa in my mind and laughed out loud. The intersections without real police sitting at them have very few rules and total chaos ensues… like driving in Boston the person with the most balls goes first, with a burst of lemmings until someone going another way breaks into the intersection. It is common to see a truck parked sideways causing a total back up or a bus stalled while they move parked motorcycles so it can turn a tight corner. These huge tour buses go down streets made for motorcycles and cause all kinds of havoc. Dogs sleep in the middle of the road, if I had not seen it thousands of times I would think the animal was dead. Last night coming back from the spa a girl was riding her motorcycle with huge bags of something really heavy maybe rice perched in front of her at her feet and also on the back was another girl trying to hold another bag in front of her. The driver was totally out of control with the bike and bags shifting on her as she teetered along I dodged her abrupt and unexpected stop as she re-shifted the bag in the front just before it almost fell off the bike right in the middle of one of those chaotic intersections. Earlier in the day on my way to the bank I passed a young man driving eradically on his motorcycle… when I passed him I noticed he was texting while driving!
