Oxford is great!

I´ve just returned from Oxford. I went alone, isn´t that brave :-)
Anyway, it was a long journey and this morning I wasn't even sure if I would go. The train left at 8:14 and usually I take the bus to the station. But because it is a Sunday it has a different timetable. So I had to walk to the station (which is 45 minutes so I had to wake up at half past 6!).

The second thing was that the train I had to change to in Milton Keynes was replaced by a bus. So about 2 hours and 45 minutes later I arrived at Oxford! It was still very grey and cold. Then the most terrible thing happened! While I was taking a bus tour, my camera's battery was empty!! I could have sworn that I reloaded it this week but now I'm not so sure :) (so I haven't got any pictures to show you yet)

At that moment I felt like going back to Wolverhampton!! But after about half an hour the sun began to shine, and I found a shop were I bought a disposable camera and a map. And from there on it only got better, much better!

Oxford is a beautiful city! Filled with historical buildings (mainly universities ofcourse).
Everything looks old here and the atmosphere is great! Obviously a lot of students, and it's probably the only city in England where everyone uses bicycles :) It must be great to go to university here!(except for the tourists coming every year ;)

I took a long walk through the city and ended up at the biggest and most impressive university : Christ Church (you wouldn't think it with this name but it really is a university).
It's very big and has its own cathedral (the smallest in England). It has a lot of land around it that is connected to the River Thames. Beautiful views.
But I didn't have a lot of time so I could only visit the building itself. I recognised a lot of things, because parts of this university were used for....

Harry Potter!!(the first movie)

Like the Hall (look at my pictures to see it, the only picture I could take with my digital camera before it completely shut down)the courtyard and some of the corridors. Very nice!
I will try to develope the pictures of the disposable camera this week and ask for the digital versions as well.

Unfortunately I had to go back very early. It was either this or return very late but I didn't want to take the risk of something else going wrong this journey. And I made the right choice, I went home 16:07 and arrived at my room at 19:45!!! So I'm very tired now, I think I'll just watch some tv and go to sleep...-yawn-...already looking forward to it :-)
