Pumpkin Carving
Today we wen to visit the Bata Shoe Museum. Corey was dying to see it, and dragged Kara and I along. It was pretty good, but after three levels of shoe history, we were all pretty over it. We then took a Street Car… equivalent to our tram, to China Town. Here in the chaotic streets that are stereotypical of any China Town we bought some fresh, cheap groceries. We had organised to cook up a storm with the Germans… Boys against girls… Boys cooking entree, and Kara and I cooking the main AND dessert. Corey whipped out an old favourite recipe, Chilli pumpkin capsicum soup. It turned out really well, but was blown out of the water by the girl's Greek gnocchi and blueberry pie. After our dinner competition, we had another competition… a pumpkin carving competition!! With a small pumpkin each, we each carved a unique and creative face and placed a tea candle inside. We made a lot of mess, but it was heaps of fun, and the little lanterns turned out well. Andy and Anika's were judged to be equal winners. Another two Couchsurfers arrived tonight from France- Sean's house is like a hostel for travellers!
