Creede Gem & Mineral Show

My drive to Creede, CO was beautiful. I enjoyed listening to my new stereo dock for my new iPhone4, my Grand Caravan only came with a cassette deck and I did not have any of those. I drove through some really intense rain (people pulled over as we could not see). I passed an amazing field of sunflowers which I had to stop and take some photos of.

The show was awesome as usual. I keep worrying that some of my die-hard fans will get satiated on my jewelry, but fortunately for me that did not happen. I am so thankful that the people that love my jewelry really enjoy it, wear it, and most importantly for me… continue to collect it. If you are a customer or fan of mine, and you are reading this, thank you for your loyalty.

It was good to see all of my rock-hound friends again. In the evenings we went to the bars/restaurants and hung out after that we went back to the mine and sat around listening to Wayne or my new friend Rebecca playing the guitar and singing. I met a guy named Wolf who was a lot of fun and we hung out together. I also met a grl named Rebecca and she added a lot to the group it was nice to have another girl in the mix. Rebecca has a beautiful voice, she is a musician and one of her songs is being highlighted at the Aspen FilmFest this year.

My new tablecloths looked great and have added a little more sophistication to my booth’s appearance. My sales at the show exceeded my expectations. One customer even brought her entire stone collection to show to me (it has it’s own jewelry case) and then she added seven new pieces!

One night while we were having dinner on an outside deck in the rain, we saw a beautiful double rainbow. Each morning I loved watching the clouds and fog roll into the box canyon. Creede is really a beautiful place and the Creede Gem and Mineral show is one of my favorites. After all of the intense weather that I have been experiencing at all of my outdoor summer shows it was a relief to do an indoor show.

Another night we went and saw an interesting band I would call them hillbilly, bluegrass, ska. They were interesting… the lead singer in faded, blue jean coveralls with no shirt.

I bought some new florescent minerals for my UV collection and got some good gems and minerals to include in the 2011 stone jewelry line. I’m excited to get cutting some of these minerals but I will have to wait as I have three more long and back-to-back shows as well as Burning Man to attend before I have time to pull out my lapidary equipment.
